Our Penzance shop will be open again Monday morning February 17th at 10am. Decided to take a long weekend off due to the "charming" weather and the obvious lack of fish supply.
Valentines Day here in Mousehole saw some amazing rough weather scenes. The height, power and ferocity of the waves was phenomenal at times. On several occasions the tidal surge pushed past our front door. "Violent Storm 11" they said, hmm yes, well, that's quite enough of that for this year thank-you is what we say!
Well that was quite a storm wasn't it? I think we've had quite enough now thank-you!
Somehow we have managed to sustain a good supply of local, Cornish fish this past week and we are confident that supply will be reasonable again this coming week.
Our Penzance shop continues to gain in popularity and we are truly humbled and thankful for the tremendous local support that we are witnessing. This past week we have seen a lot of new local customers whom have been referred to "that little fish shop on the corner" by friends and family. "Word of mouth" really is the best form of advertising and hopefully it means that we are doing things right.
We will shortly be stocking fresh crab and smoked fish in the shop and we can now offer a "Fish by Post" service - we can send up to 14Kg of fish for next day delivery at a delivery charge of only £12.50.
Pop in the shop or ring us for details on 07816 442 423.
French fishing vessel "Le Sillion" wrecked near Porthcotnan Bay, North Cornwall 2nd Feb 2014.
The crew of French and Portuguese fishermen had to be winched from the sea by an RNAS Culdrose helicopter. Their boat had foundered in dire weather conditions off the north Cornish coast.
Rescuers from the Royal Navy and RNLI had to contend with 60mph winds and 30ft (9m) waves
All six are recovering at the Fisherman's Mission in Newlyn and were described by a coastguard spokesman as being "shaken but mostly unharmed" after their ordeal on Saturday.
